Greetings and Introductions: Chapter President, John Gotthold, greets all attendees and asks each attendee to state their name and a short synopsis of their background and what they hope to learn by attending the meeting. 10 minutes.
1. Government Support for Hydrogen: Review of German Federal hydrogen implementation plan. California ten year solar program passed by PUC. Japans new energy strategy, review.
2. The Race to Hydrogen for Transport: Honda announces FCX fuel cell car for production in three to four years. We review the design. FORD shows hydrogen powered SUPER CHIEF pickup at Detroit Auto Show. Is GM toast? Companies in India beginning limited production of hydrogen powered three and four wheel vehicles. Nissan begins leasing advanced fuel cell SUV in Japan. Testing newer model in Canada in February. Mazda RX-8 hydrogen rotary to be support vehicle for all Prefecture relay foot race.
3. SPEAKER: Thomas McKay is coming from foothills to give us a review of his hydrogen powered automobile. Presented by Tom Dickerman, ½ hour.
4. Technology: Fuel Cells without bi-polar plates. CMR has them. BMW now has hydrogen engines churning out up to 50% efficiency and they have an add on expander which utilizes engine exhaust heat to make re-circulating steam which can pick up another 15%. Use both technologies combined for 65% hydrogen burning efficiency, as good as the best fuel cells. University of Georgia has 1H(2H0-1,2,3-triazole), which has high proton conductivity at 120C. ITM power meets all goals for low cost electrolysers, also has new protonic switch. Flying electrical wind generators! Ocean current turbine power. Lots of new ideas bubbling.
5. Global warming: Polar bears on thin ice. Review of rate of global warming. US solar hot spots.
