AGENDA for SATURDAY,
MAY 17, 2008

NOTES: Bad news arriving faster than good. Solar and wind advancing but not as fast as coal. Hydrogen still sitting in the wings. GOOD NEWS- SEE TRANSPORTATION.

Greetings and Introductions: Chapter President, John Gotthold, greets all attendees and asks each attendee to state their name and a short synopsis of their background and what they hope to learn by attending the meeting. 10 minutes.

1. Transportation: All major auto makers make deals with Li-ion battery manufacturers for battery production. Billions spent on new plants. Honda fuel cell Clarity goes on lease for $600 per month in LA.

2. Hydrogen Technology: Israel - New solar photovoltaic based on genetically engineered dry proteins photosystem, claimed 25% efficiency. Ai23 makes Li-ion with nano particles of lithium iron phosphate, high power, long life, safe! Hydrogen boost being mentioned in Congress.

3. Government Support for Hydrogen: England - a dozen hydrogen stations going in, will beat US to automotive hydrogen supply. Local laws changing to accommodate back yard wind turbines. Canada has thirteen major hydrogen initiatives going to build their 2010 Olympic hydrogen highway.

4. Hydrogen Business: Idatech raises $23,000,000 for production of backup hydrogen power systems.

5. Global Warming and Oil Depletion: Pray-in to lower gas prices. Coal on comeback trail! Human released CO2 at so high a rate that natural weathering absorption is now overwhelmed, speeding buildup. Carbon dioxide now to 385 parts per million. Rice is staple for three billion people. Oil above $126 per barrel. Vinod Khosla VC, betting that new bio produced fuels can be produced for $1 and sold for $2, undercutting oil and coal and making them obsolete. Tornadoes have doubled in US, to over 725 this year, welcome to Greenhouse Earth! Europeans refusing to buy cars. $10 per imperial gallon seems to be the breaking point. In US car dealers refuse to take gas guzzling SUVs as trade-ins. Top of the ASPO curve is flat from 2007 to 2010. That is the cause of rising fuel prices. After 2010 the curve starts down!!!

6. Outline for AHASVC Certificate: Block outline to be discussed. Hydrogen boost part of training?

7. Demonstration or Video: To be announced. (Hopefully IER will demo their solar hydrogen system).
