AGENDA for June 18, 2005

Matrix liquid Hydrogen- fascinating concept presented by Christopher Masters, at last months meeting. When proven it would make the transition to a solar hydrogen based economy easy. Japan has instituted a national effort to reduce energy consumption by another fifty percent. Japan is already the most energy efficient society in the world. Per capita GNP they use X, Europe uses 2 X, the US 3 X, and China 11 to 13 X. The three and three plan is the only one I have heard of that can make any sense. Every year, each society that wants to remain industrial must improve energy efficiency by three percent and develop renewable energy by three percent, to replace the oil and gas that will be depleting at six percent per year after 2008.

1. Greetings and Introductions: Chapter President, John Gotthold, greets all attendees and asks each attendee to state their name and a short synopsis of their background and what they hope to learn by attending the meeting. 10 minutes.

2. Additional Energy Sources: Exhaustive Study of Canadian tar sands, projects that Canada could raise production to 4.5 to 5 million barrels per day by 2012. They will consume all their endowment of natural gas to do it and it will not replace the depletion losses from the North Sea in that time frame. Better to spend those billions on wind turbines and solar cells.

3. Transportation: Government mandate that all future gasoline must include 10 % ethanol. That ten percent will keep the transportation fleet running for two additional years.. Additional mandates coming that will require two percent bio-diesel in all diesel fuel. President Bush promotes hydrogen and bio-diesel.

4. Hydrogen Production: Secretaries of Energy and Agriculture in joint agreement to rapidly develop ethanol, methanol and hydrogen production from biomass. Module 1 presented.

5. Hydrogen Culture: Steve Wetlesen presents his Ode to Wales, for their efforts to create a solar valley.

6. Video: Back to the future! - Harry Braun - The Solar Hydrogen Economy. 40 minutes.
