July 2005

AGENDA for July 16, 2005

Due to information overload fatigue we will cut way down on the information presented and limit the topics to four major categories per meeting, with sufficient time for discussion and analysis.

1. Greetings and Introductions: Chapter President, John Gotthold, greets all attendees and asks each attendee to state their name and a short synopsis of their background and what they hope to learn by attending the meeting. 10 minutes.

2. The Future of Air Transport: As jet fuel costs escalate along with the price of oil, all airlines face an impossible dilemma. How high can fuel surcharges go before passenger traffic drops rapidly. How low can mass traffic drop before there is not enough cash flow to pay for the maintenance of airports? All these questions become moot with the arrival of the first Hydrogen Plane. Studies and tests from the 1980s showed that a hydrogen powered passenger plane could operate forty percent more efficiently than jet fuel powered ones.

3. Passenger Cars: Detroit and the major Japanese and European vehicle makers are projecting hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicles to cost approximately $50,000 by 2015 and to enter limited production no earlier than 2012. Enter Agni- a small company in Malaysia, with their fuel cell powered, four passenger REAL car. They claim that it can be produced affordably now, and are licensing it out around the world. Initial introduction of the Hydrogen Arrow.

4. The Tipping Point: Review and discussion of a seminar with ex-President William Jefferson Clinton and Ted Turner, founder of CNN. The question is what does it take to make people realize that what they have been doing successfully in the past, guzzling oil (Chevron now advertising that it took 125 years to consume the first trillion barrels of oil and they project that the second trillion will be consumed in only 30 years), is no longer viable, and change to the new paradigm, guzzling hydrogen.

5. Video: Renewable Power - Earth's Clean Energy Destiny - From Hydrogen 2000 - 29 min.
