Chapter Meeting - 16 October, 2004
- Greetings and Introductions: by Chapter President, John Gotthold. 10 min.
- Technology update: Hydrogen Harley- Jamey Butteris, the power engineer from Warsitz Enterprises and EverWatt is on board to help with the power control design for the Hydrogen Harley. New Company in Florida is producing ULTRACAPS made with carbon Aerogel. They have an energy density one half of lithium-ion batteries - a record.
- American Hydrogen Association- Silicon Valley Chapter- Local initiative: Still no reply from the City of Sunnyvale. Time to go the public meetings and ask the question to get it on the record.
- Hydrogen powered pistons: Ford introduces hydrogen powered minibuses for sale to airports. Canberra, Australia will spend 67 million over three years to purchase 90 hydrogen powered buses.
- England: Hydrogen will never happen because calculations show it will take 100,000 wind turbines to provide sufficient electrolysis to make hydrogen to power English cars. Also it will take one million wind turbines to make enough to power US cars. Let's assume that we can place one wind turbine per acre, so 1000 X 1000 or 1,000,000 acres of west Texas, or Idaho, or Nebraska. What about all the Midwest land drying up and being given back to the buffalo. Last I checked buffalo didn't fly, so no worries there. If the material in three SUVs, plus some concrete and fiberglass, will build a large wind turbine, then certainly one years production run of 1 5 million cars and trucks would provide the material for enough wind turbines and electrolysers and storage tanks to provide transportation fuel for the next fifty years.
