AGENDA for SATURDAY,
OCTOBER 20, 2007

NOTES: Kudos to all the members of AHASVC, who spent time, money and energy supporting our national president, Roy McAlister in his visit to the bay area. The presentations he gave at PG & E in San Francisco and at Stanford Business School were very informative. We can only be disappointed by the turnout but I believe it is more due to the long term hope of hydrogen and its lack of practical delivery that makes the public skeptical. The break throughs to make hydrogen affordable and practical are going to happen in the next few years. We just have to keep the faith and keep working at it and eventually hydrogen will power a better world.

Greetings and Introductions: Chapter President, John Gotthold, greets all attendees and asks each attendee to state their name and a short synopsis of their background and what they hope to learn by attending the meeting. 10 minutes.

1. Transportation: Hydrogen vehicle fleets will move up from five to a hundred in 2008 and to thousands by 2010. There are now ten hydrogen refueling stations in Canada. Toyota FCHV made the run from Osaka to Tokyo without refueling- 750 km -over 500 miles. Suzuki motorcycle will show the "crosscage" a fuel cell-li-ion battery hybrid motorcycle with a neat styling.

2. Government Support for Hydrogen: Ontario government funding hydrogen powered trains from Bombardier. Hydrogen balloons banned in China schools after teachers fill a room with hydrogen filled balloons-and it went off! Iceland moving off fossil fuel- gas costs $8.00 per gallon. NHA annual conference March 30 to April 4, 2008 in Sacramento, CA. EU launches euro 940 million, fuel cells and hydrogen initiative. Bush tries to change US global warming image- no other change-just image.

3. Hydrogen Technology: Formula zero fuel cell go karts set track record. Titanium Disilicide catalyst uses sunlight to split water and also stores oxygen and hydrogen. Nanologix hydrogen bioreactor system powers a 5.5 kW generator. Solar hydrogen island planned for UEA. Eggshells help make hydrogen fuel. HALE aircraft- five to seven day flights at 55,000 feet. Lithium nitride nanofibers show promise in fast input/output hydrogen storage. Buckeye bullet achieves 223.334 mph on hydrogen fuel cells. AirGen- h2 from h2O at 1 volt.

4. Hydrogen Business: Plug Power, Inc acquired General Hydrogen for 10 million and Cellex for 45 million. Industry consolidation under way.

5. Global Warming and Oil Depletion: Human activity causing rise in global humidity. Feel the heat. Food bills have doubled due to rising transportation costs and food to alcohol. Northwest passage opening, race is on to claim resources.

6. Demonstration and Video: To be announced.
