AGENDA for DECEMBER 18, 2004
Igor Bashmakov - Executive Director of the Russian Center for Energy Efficiency: If Russia doesn't vastly improve its energy efficiency, domestic consumption growth and level to falling production will combine by 2010 to cause Russia to cease exports of oil and natural gas products. This is the first estimate of when producing countries will start to keep their remaining oil and gas for themselves. Several other major producers will be coming to the same conclusion about the same time. Hydrogen had better hurry! GM fuel cell evolution WOW!!!
1. Greetings and Introductions: Chapter President, John Gotthold, greets all attendees and asks each attendee to state their name and a short synopsis of their background and what they hope to learn by attending the meeting. 10 min.
2. Technology update: The Hydrogen is on the bus. A global survey of all the hydrogen fuel cell busses being tested around the world, shows great success in the trial runs of actual on the street service. Also the refueling and maintenance are very successful. The remaining challenge is to lower the cost of the busses from approx $800,000 down to a more manageable $250,000.
3. Association American Hydrogen - Silicon Valley Chapter- Local initiative: Did anyone attend the Dec 8th open meeting for the Governors Hydrogen Hiway in Sacramento? The final report on implementation of the California Hydrogen Hiway, is due on the Governors desk by 1 January, 2005.
4. Consumer hydrogen power: Honda and Plug Power are demo-ing a Home Energy Station. It will heat your home, warm your water, provide electrical power, and fill up your fuel cell car. Tokyo Gas will provide 1 kw home heat and electricity systems for Y9,500 or $92 per month in February 2005. Good for Japan!
5. Solar Hydrogen Energy System: Complete listing of all required components for putting together a complete Solar Hydrogen lifestyle are being listed on the http://www.ahasvc.org web site. Go Clyde!
6. Video- Tom Dickerman: The END of SUBURBIA
7. Visions of Japan: Pictures from my trip. Invitations to the fuel cell conference in Japan!!
