The future vision for the Solar Hydrogen Energy Economy is very simple. It consists of three parts
- Production of Hydrogen from Natural Energy, Solar, Wind, Hydro, Geo-thermal, Bio-conversion.
- Storage and transmission of Natural Energy as Hydrogen
- Use of Hydrogen stored energy for heat, light, and power assist.
To produce Hydrogen, Solar energy must be captured. Since solar energy is diffuse (approximately one kilowatt per square meter in the temperate zone of the northern hemisphere) and intermittent (approximately eight hours out of twenty four)
-
(subtract twelve hours for night time and a couple hours for dawn and dusk where the Sunshine is at a very low angle)
In the Solar Hydrogen Energy economy, the United States will evolve from a highly centralized power economy, based on Coal, Nuclear, and Natural gas fired power plants, with electrical power distributed along thousands of miles of electrical power lines, to a Solar Hydrogen economy, wherein electrical power will be more locally produced and consumed.
Solar power contained in wind and sunlight will be captured by wind turbines and solar arrays. To balance the intermittency of the natural resources, the production areas will be tied together by an improved and unified transmission grid, which will allow electricity to flow across regions of the country.
Additionally, the excess energy produced locally will be stored by converting it to hydrogen, pumped water storage, flywheel storage, compressed air storage, battery or capacitor storage, or any other means suited to the volume or requirements of the source and location.
Most local energy production will be localized combined heat and power, wherein the hydrogen fuel will produce both electricity and heat to provide the home or office or factory with space heating, hot water, thermal process heat, electric lighting, and motor power assist.
This vast conglomerate of many nodes will result in a highly efficient energy system which will be un-interruptible and long term sustainable as the sun will shine and the wind will blow upon the Earth for the next billion years.
PROSPERITY WITHOUT POLLUTION is then left to the ingenuity of each generation to decide how best to utilize the energy the Earth naturally provides.
