Hydrogen Vents

Since hydrogen is a very powerful fuel and has a low ignition energy, handling it properly and safely is paramount. Mixed between four and seventy four percent with air hydrogen is ignitable by a flame or spark. Between fifteen and sixty percent mixture in air hydrogen is detonate-able. The core safety virtue of hydrogen is that it is one seventh the weight of air and will rise and disperse very rapidly if it has an escape path. So the single best safety feature of any enclosure where hydrogen might possiblly escape is venting at the peak. A properly built hydrogen structure has no pockets where the gas could get trapped and clear venting paths to open air.

Zomeworks H2Vent™ Passive Hydrogen Ventilating System

The patented, convective H2Vent™ pumps potentially explosive hydrogen rich air from the battery enclosure – only when it is present and with minimal loss of coolness. The H2Vent™ is passive, automatic, and uses no power.
